Hi! I’m Sea-Jay. :)

Growing up as a product of two different cultures, I constantly found myself pitching my "weird" name to other kids. My name is derived from my Chinese name, 欣潔 Xin Jié, from my mom's side of the family. My Dutch father added a seafaring, Anglicized spin to it and voilà — Sea-Jay was born.

I soon developed a unique skill in taking something foreign, demystifying it, and reframing its appeal. My interest in bridging cultural narratives led me to pursue international studies in college, where I also studied two languages and ran a global film festival.

I took an interest in challenging societal norms in my marketing roles at Curology, an acne skincare company, and Parade, an inclusive apparel brand. As a strategist, I dug into why society stigmatizes certain appearances and explored what messaging would celebrate individuals of all identities.

My experience in nonprofits and campaign digital strategy tackles one of the thorniest topics of all, politics. I enjoy figuring out why people approach topics with skepticism and aversion. And I love the moment when a creative idea or familiar anecdote opens the door to understanding.
